Thanks annika. I love blogging, but I need to make an effort to write down topics to blog about when I think of them, and sometimes that’s in the middle of the night. But if I did that, I would definitely blog much more often!

i totally understand. and with economics being as they are, costs rising blablabla. maybe later you will feel that the time is right. or find a way to enjoy things as they are. (like not putting to much emotional effort into it) hmm, sound like dr phil now.
but please keep on writing here somtimes anyway, it’s really nice reading.

Wow, what a great story! I mean, I’m sorry for the rough times, but you turned your life around. And that’s very cool. I sort of feel in the same position. Scared of leaving high paying job…and I’ve not been in advertising as long as you, so I have many fears.

hmm, do you have an hour:) but to make a long story short: worked in advbiz since 1991, was really into making a career, winning prizes and stuff even though i had 2small kids then. (insane, i know. now.) then in 2003 i totally burned out on alla levels. divorced. slept and took prozac for 6 months. realized i wanted another life. quitted well paid job. started as freelancer. got office with friends. dont know how but people started calling and since then everything just kept going.
today i work mostly with pia, “my” art director. (the ’silver’ in silvermayer.) and enjoying my life as i want it, with all it’s ups and downs.
sorry for the megacomment, wasnt so short after all…

Annika,I would really love to hear more from you about how you made the switch to becoming your own boss. Did you work full time while building a base of freelance clients? Or did you just take the plunge. Or did you develop a well-thought-out plan and then take the plunge? I am really interested to learn from you!
